Hey, guys! I have the honor of bringing you some fantastic news this morning. And the thing is, you probably won't even realize how awesome this news is yet, but trust me, it is:

There's going to be a sequel to Of Metal and Wishes!!!

I won't waste your time with platitudes or trying to convince you why this is so unbelievably awesome. I'll just let the author tell you about it herself.

From Sarah:
When I was told I’d have the opportunity to write the sequel to Of Metal and Wishes, I was overjoyed for a few reasons. Writing the first book was an ecstatic, breathless experience, one I’ll never forget. (I wrote it in three weeks!) Writing the sequel, while less breathless (it took me four weeks ...), was soothing and uplifting after months of doubt and turmoil in my writing life. And to get the chance to tell the entire story I’d envisioned was a special privilege. Of Metal and Wishes is not just a romance; it's about persisting in the face of tragedy and oppression--and triumphing over it. The sequel pushes all of that further--the romance, the risks, the cultural differences and conflicts--and does it on a grander scale. I can’t wait to share these books with readers!

Eeeeeek! Best. News. Ever!!! When I read Of Metal and Wishes, I read it thinking it was a stand-alone. And I was okay with that because I could use more stand-alone novels in my life. But when I got to the end of Of Metal and Wishes, I needed more. You can check out my Review in a GIFfy for the novel if you don't believe me. It was a sufficient ending, don't get me wrong, but it left quite a bit unsaid. And now we're going to get the opportunity to get the full story! Sarah may have also mentioned the possible title for the sequel -- it's not been approved yet, though, so we can't share it. But it's perfect, trust me. =) And how amazing is it that she wrote these books in such a brief amount of time?!? I bow down to Sarah's greatness.

And in case you're still wondering what all the fuss is about, here's a little more about the first book in what is now going to be a duology:

There are whispers of a ghost in the slaughterhouse where sixteen-year-old Wen assists her father in his medical clinic—a ghost who grants wishes to those who need them most. When one of the Noor, men hired as cheap factory labor, humiliates Wen, she makes an impulsive wish of her own, and the Ghost grants it. Brutally.

Guilt-ridden, Wen befriends the Noor, including their outspoken leader, a young man named Melik. At the same time, she is lured by the mystery of the Ghost and learns he has been watching her … for a very long time.

As deadly accidents fuel tensions within the factory, Wen must confront her growing feelings for Melik, who is enraged at the sadistic factory bosses and the prejudice faced by his people at the hand of Wen’s, and her need to appease the Ghost, who is determined to protect her against any threat—real or imagined. She must decide whom she can trust, because as her heart is torn, the factory is exploding around her … and she might go down with it.

About the author:

I’m the author of the Guards of the Shadowlands urban fantasy series (Skyscape/Amazon Children’s Publishing), including Sanctum (October 2012) and Fractured (October 2013). My gothic young adult novel Of Metal and Wishes will be published by McElderry/Simon & Schuster in August 2014. In May 2014, Putnam/Penguin will publish Scan, the first of two thrillers I co-authored with Walter Jury under the name S. E. Fine. When I’m not writing, I’m psychologizing. Sometimes I do both at the same time. The results are unpredictable.
